Why You Love a Person with a “Smelling” Personality

We all know that person. Sweet face, nice talk, but inside? Attitude smelling like week-old fish.

And yet… you still love them. Still defend them. Still keep them close.

Here, “smelling” isn’t about perfume or body odor, it’s about a bad, unpleasant personality that makes people avoid them, but you? You’re still there. Why? Let’s break it down.

1️⃣ You Fell in Love Before the Smell Started

Sometimes you met them in their “honeymoon mode”, sweet, generous, and pretending to be angels. Then time passed, and the true side started showing. But by then, you’re already emotionally locked in.

2️⃣ The Good Days Are Addictive

They might ruin four days out of the week, but those three good days? They’re so good that you keep chasing them. You hope the sweetness will come back permanently, so you endure the bitterness.

3️⃣ You Think You Can Change Them

You believe your love, patience, or sacrifices will turn them into better people. Truth? Unless they want to change, you will only wear yourself out.

4️⃣ Your Self-Esteem Is Damaged

Being around bad energy for too long can make you start thinking you deserve it. You lower your standards until you accept what once made you uncomfortable.

5️⃣ They Pull You Back Every Time

Even with their bad personality, they know how to win you back, sweet words, short apologies, sudden kindness. And just like that, you’re trapped in a cycle.

6️⃣ Familiarity Feels Like Love

When you’ve been around them long enough, the smell becomes “normal.” You think you’re in love, but really you’re just used to the chaos.

7️⃣ You’re Afraid of Being Alone

Sometimes, it’s not them you’re holding on to, it’s your fear of loneliness. You’d rather stay with the smell you know than risk starting fresh.

The Point: Love Shouldn’t Stink

Loving someone with a smelling personality isn’t a crime, it happens to the best of us.

But if their presence steals your peace more than it brings you joy, ask yourself:

Are you holding on to the person… or just to the hope of who they could be?

Remember, true love uplifts, respects, and adds value. If your love smells toxic, it’s time to step out and breathe in fresh air again.
