EGOBAFF, Guards Brigade Illuminate Learning at Army Children School Maitama with 15KVA Solar Power Project By Padre-pio Benjamin Akor
In a remarkable demonstration of corporate social responsibility, alumni commitment, and strategic partnership, the Ex-Gowon Barracks Family Forum (EGOBAFF) has successfully commissioned a 15KVA Solar Power System for the Computer Laboratory and Library of Army Children School, Maitama, Abuja.
The project, which marks another milestone in educational development within the military community, was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Commander, Guards Brigade Abuja, Brigadier General A.O. Orasanya, in collaboration with EGOBAFF, the alumni association of former pupils and members of the Gowon Barracks community.
The commissioning ceremony attracted key stakeholders from the education and military sectors, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing quality education. The event was graced by the FCT Education Secretary, Dr (Mrs) Mariam Ibrahim BabaKarshi who was humbly represented by Mal Saliyu Jibril alongside EGOBAFF BOARD OF TRUSTEES school administrators, military officers, alumni, teachers, parents, and other distinguished guests.
Representing the Commander, Guards Brigade Abuja, was the Deputy Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel S.O. Laleye, who delivered the Commander's goodwill message.
Speaking on behalf of Brigadier General Orasanya, Lt. Col. Laleye commended EGOBAFF for its unwavering commitment to giving back to its roots through impactful community development initiatives. He described the alumni association as a shining example of responsible leadership and encouraged other alumni bodies to emulate such noble gestures.
He further assured the management of Army Children School, Maitama, that the installation of the solar power system is only the beginning of a broader vision by the Guards Brigade to improve educational infrastructure within the barracks.
"The Guards Brigade is just starting. More developmental projects are on the way to provide the children of our military personnel with a better, safer, and more conducive learning environment," he stated.
The newly installed 15KVA Solar Power System is expected to provide uninterrupted electricity to the school's Computer Laboratory and Library, ensuring that pupils and teachers have reliable access to digital learning resources, research facilities, and modern educational technologies regardless of public power supply challenges.
Leading the alumni association, EGOBAFF President, Mr. Moses Bimbol, expressed profound appreciation to the Commander, Guards Brigade Abuja, Brigadier General A.O. Orasanya, for believing in the vision of the association and partnering with them to make the project a reality.
